Here's the simple version: Diazepam already slows down activity in your brain to ease anxiety, calm muscle spasms, or control seizures. That's why it can make you feel drowsy, foggy, or unsteady. The concern with coriander is that, in theory, it may add a little to that calming effect, so you could feel sleepier or more relaxed than usual.

Now for the reassuring part: this idea comes only from animal and lab research, not from studies in people, and the kind of coriander you sprinkle on tacos or soup is very unlikely to matter. Concentrated coriander extracts or essential oils are where I'd be more cautious. If you're using one of those, just check with your pharmacist or doctor first, and watch for extra grogginess.

What Is Diazepam Used For?

Brand names: Valium, Valium injection, Diastat AcuDial, Valtoco

  • Diazepam is used to relieve anxiety and to control agitation caused by alcohol withdrawal. It is also used along with other medications to control muscle spasms and spasticity caused by certain neurological disorders such as cerebral palsy (condition that causes difficulty with movement and balance), paraplegia (inability to move parts of the body), athetosis (abnormal muscle contractions), and stiff-man syndrome (a rare disorder with muscle rigidity and stiffness). Diazepam is also used along with other medications to control seizures. Diazepam is in a class of medications called benzodiazepines. It works by calming abnormal overactivity in the brain.
