Here's the simple version: Vigabatrin (Sabril) can already make people feel drowsy, tired, or foggy, and that's its main overlap with coriander here. Some early animal studies hint that coriander may have a mild calming or sedative effect. So in theory, pairing the two could add up and leave you feeling sleepier, dizzier, or less alert than usual. This isn't about coriander changing how your body processes the drug, it's just two things nudging in the same drowsy direction.

The good news: this is theoretical and based only on lab and animal work, not strong human data. The cilantro on your tacos or in your soup is very unlikely to matter. Concentrated coriander extracts or essential oils are a different story, so check with your pharmacist or doctor before using those.

As a food it is generally safe for most people, but high-quality human studies supporting its medicinal benefits are limited. About Vigabatrin

What Is Vigabatrin Used For?

Brand name: Sabril

Vigabatrin is used to treat two types of seizure conditions. For refractory complex partial seizures (seizures that have not responded well to other treatments), vigabatrin oral solution and tablets are used as an add-on therapy in patients 2 years of age and older — it is not a first-line treatment. Sabril, Vigadrone, and vigabatrin-branded products carry this indication.

For infantile spasms — a specific type of seizure disorder in very young children — vigabatrin oral solution is used as a standalone (monotherapy) treatment in infants 1 month to 2 years of age. Vigafyde oral solution is indicated specifically for infantile spasms monotherapy in this same age group. In all cases, treatment is only appropriate when the potential benefits outweigh the risk of permanent vision loss.
