Ellagic Acid + Carbidopa, Levodopa
Carbidopa, Levodopa brand names: Sinemet CR, Sinemet, Rytary, Dhivy.
We found no known interaction between Ellagic Acid and Carbidopa, Levodopa in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first. Additionally, although there is no interaction, the two are separately associated with some of the same side effects, which would make a new symptom harder to attribute to one or the other.
Ellagic Acid and Carbidopa, Levodopa
We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.
No Known Interaction Found
We did not find a documented interaction between Carbidopa, Levodopa and Ellagic Acid in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.
If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.
Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Carbidopa, Levodopa
Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Carbidopa, Levodopa is filed under 6 classifications — including levodopa, dopamine agonists, seizure threshold lowering drugs. Ellagic Acid has documented interactions with 1 drug class — the most serious being antidiabetes drugs (moderate) — and none of Carbidopa, Levodopa’s classifications are among them.
Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Carbidopa, Levodopa page
“Carbidopa/levodopa (Sinemet, Rytary) anchors Parkinson's treatment, and because symptom control hinges on how much levodopa actually reaches the brain, the 43 supplements and herbs on this list deserve real respect before you add any of them. Eight carry a major rating, and almost all of the serious entries weaken the drug rather than…”

About Ellagic Acid
What is Ellagic Acid?
- Antioxidant support
- General anti-aging or 'cleanse' products
- Cancer prevention interest
- Skin and beauty products
- Heart and metabolic health
Ellagic acid is a natural plant compound (a polyphenol) found in foods like pomegranates, raspberries, strawberries, and walnuts. It is studied mostly in laboratory and animal research for antioxidant and possible anti-cancer effects, but strong human evidence is lacking. Eating ellagic-acid-rich foods is healthy, but supplements are not proven to treat any disease, so check with a pharmacist or doctor before using them.
Naturally found in the fruit, seeds, and skins of many plants · Capsules, tablets, powders, and as part of fruit extracts (such as pomegranate or red raspberry seed extract)
An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Ellagic Acid is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Ellagic Acid record says about it on its own.
Ellagic Acid: dosing
There is no well-established standard dose of ellagic acid as a supplement. Research studies have used different amounts and different forms, so it is hard to recommend a specific milligram amount. If you choose to use a product, follow the directions on the label and do not exceed the recommended dose.

About Levodopa and Carbidopa
What Is Levodopa and Carbidopa Used For?
Brand names: Sinemet CR, Sinemet, Rytary, Dhivy
Levodopa and carbidopa is used to treat Parkinson's disease, post-encephalitic parkinsonism (parkinsonism that develops after a brain infection), and symptomatic parkinsonism that can follow carbon monoxide or manganese poisoning. These indications are shared across the oral tablet, orally disintegrating tablet, extended-release tablet, and extended-release capsule formulations (including Sinemet, Rytary, Crexont, and generic products).
DUOPA — a carbidopa/levodopa suspension given through a tube directly into the small intestine — is specifically indicated for the treatment of motor fluctuations in patients with advanced Parkinson's disease. This is a product-specific indication and does not apply to the oral forms.
