Linagliptin falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Ellagic Acid interacts with.

Some clinical research shows that ellagic acid reduces fasting and postprandial glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes who are on stable doses of hypoglycemic agents such as metformin. Theoretically, taking ellagic acid with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.

Here's the simple version: ellagic acid may help lower blood sugar on its own. In some studies of people with type 2 diabetes already on blood-sugar medicines, adding ellagic acid nudged their fasting and after-meal glucose down a bit further. So when you stack it on top of Linagliptin (Tradjenta), the two together could lower your numbers more than Linagliptin alone.

The good news is that Linagliptin by itself rarely causes hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), so the risk here is modest. Still, keep an eye out for shakiness, sweating, dizziness, or feeling foggy. If you're thinking about an ellagic acid supplement, check with your pharmacist or doctor first and keep monitoring your sugars rather than changing any dose on your own.

Linagliptin is not for type 1 diabetes, and it has not been studied in people with a history of pancreatitis.
