Glyburide, Metformin falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Ellagic Acid interacts with.

Some clinical research shows that ellagic acid reduces fasting and postprandial glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes who are on stable doses of hypoglycemic agents such as metformin. Theoretically, taking ellagic acid with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.

Glucovance combines two diabetes medicines: glyburide, which pushes your pancreas to release more insulin, and metformin, which lowers the sugar your liver makes. Both work to bring your blood sugar down. Here's the thing about ellagic acid: some human research suggests it may lower fasting and after-meal glucose on its own. Stack that effect on top of your medication, and your blood sugar could drop a little too low.

With glyburide especially, watch for shakiness, sweating, dizziness, confusion, or sudden hunger. This evidence is modest, and pomegranates or berries you eat at meals are very unlikely to cause trouble. Concentrated supplements are the real question. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding one, and don't change your medicine on your own.
