European Mandrake + Albuterol
Albuterol brand names: Proventil, Volmax, Ventolin (U.S.), ProAir HFA.
European Mandrake has a moderate interaction with Albuterol. Theoretically, concurrent use might increase absorption of some drugs because of inhibited gastrointestinal (GI) motility caused by European mandrake.

ORAL DRUGS
Why this applies to Albuterol
Albuterol falls under ORAL DRUGS — the group European Mandrake interacts with.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
First things first: please don't use European mandrake at all. It's genuinely toxic and can cause serious harm. Putting that aside, here's the idea behind this interaction. Mandrake slows down how your gut moves things along, and when your digestion slows, a pill that you swallow can sit around longer and get absorbed more fully. So an oral form of albuterol could end up with a bit more reaching your bloodstream.
For albuterol, that might mean stronger or more noticeable effects like a racing or pounding heartbeat, shakiness, jitteriness, or feeling anxious. Keep in mind this is theoretical, based on how these drugs work rather than real-world reports, and it mainly applies to albuterol tablets or syrup, not inhalers. If you have any questions, talk with your pharmacist or doctor.

This page covers European Mandrake only. If you take other supplements — a multivitamin, a sleep aid, something for joints — the Albuterol page lists 32 supplements it has a documented interaction with, worst first, each one explained.
The most serious there right now: Activated Charcoal (major), Black Tea (moderate), Caffeine (moderate), Cocoa (moderate) and Coffee (moderate).
By severity: 1 major · 22 moderate · 9 minor.
From our pharmacist’s overview on the Albuterol page
“Albuterol is a rescue drug; when an asthma attack hits, a Ventolin or ProAir inhaler has to work, which is why this list deserves a careful read rather than a skim. Of the 32 ingredients on file, activated charcoal alone is rated major, since it can soak up the drug and blunt its effect no matter how the albuterol was taken.”

About European Mandrake
What is European Mandrake?
- Insomnia (traditional)
- Pain relief (historical)
- Anxiety or depression (folk use)
- Gout and aches (traditional)
- Sedation or anesthesia (historical)
European mandrake is a highly toxic plant from the nightshade family that was used in ancient and medieval times as a sedative and pain reliever. It contains powerful poisons that can cause serious harm or death, and there is no proof it safely treats any condition. We strongly recommend you do not consume mandrake in any form.
About Albuterol
What Is Albuterol Used For?
Brand names: Proventil, Volmax, Ventolin (U.S.), ProAir HFA
Albuterol relieves bronchospasm, which is tightening of the muscles around the airways. This happens in reversible obstructive airway disease such as asthma. Which use is approved depends on the product and the age group.
Albuterol inhalers and inhalation powders (including ProAir Digihaler, ProAir RespiClick and Ventolin HFA) are used to treat or prevent bronchospasm. They are also used to prevent exercise-induced bronchospasm. Both uses are for ages 4 and older. Albuterol inhalation solution (for a nebulizer) and albuterol tablets and syrup are labeled for relief of bronchospasm, with different minimum ages by product.
