First things first: I really don't want you taking European mandrake at all. It's a toxic nightshade plant with no proven benefit, and it can cause serious harm. But here's the specific concern with Addyi (flibanserin). Mandrake's tropane alkaloids slow down how fast your gut moves things along. When your gut empties more slowly, a pill like flibanserin can sit there longer and potentially get absorbed more completely, which could mean more of the drug ends up in your system.

With flibanserin, higher exposure tends to mean more of its known troubles: low blood pressure, dizziness, fainting, and heavy drowsiness. This particular interaction is theoretical, based on how these substances behave rather than real cases, so I don't want to alarm you. Please talk with your pharmacist or doctor before mixing anything with Addyi.

What Is Flibanserin Used For?

Brand name: Addyi

Addyi is approved to treat acquired, generalized hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD) — a condition where low sexual desire causes significant distress or relationship difficulty — in women under 65. "Acquired" means the low desire developed after a period of normal desire; "generalized" means it happens regardless of the situation or partner.

Addyi is not intended for use in men, and it is not a sexual performance enhancer. It is also not meant for HSDD that is caused by a medical condition, a psychiatric condition, relationship problems, or another medication.
