First things first: European mandrake is genuinely poisonous, and I'd urge you not to take it at all. Beyond that danger, here's the theoretical concern with lomustine, your oral chemo pill for brain tumors and Hodgkin's lymphoma. Mandrake's tropane alkaloids slow down how fast your gut moves things along. When the gut slows, a pill can sit longer and potentially get absorbed more fully, which could raise the amount of lomustine that reaches your bloodstream.

With a chemo drug, more absorption can mean stronger effects on the body, including worse nausea, vomiting, and drops in blood counts that raise infection and bleeding risk. This is only a theory based on how these chemicals behave, not proven in studies. Still, please skip mandrake and check with your oncologist or pharmacist before adding anything.

What Is Lomustine Used For?

Brand name: Ceenu

Lomustine capsules are used to treat primary and metastatic brain tumors, typically after surgery and/or radiation therapy. Both Gleostine and Lomustine branded capsules share these approved uses.

Lomustine capsules are also used as part of a combination chemotherapy regimen for Hodgkin's lymphoma (a cancer of the lymph system) in patients whose disease has continued to progress after initial chemotherapy.
