Here's the thing about coffee charcoal: like other charcoal-type products, it has a porous surface that can grab onto medicines sitting in your gut. Lomustine (Ceenu) is taken by mouth, so if the charcoal binds to it, your body may absorb less of your chemotherapy dose than intended. With a cancer treatment, getting the full dose really matters, so even a partial drop in absorption is a concern worth taking seriously.

This warning is based on how charcoal behaves in general, not on direct studies with lomustine, so it's more theoretical than proven. Still, I'd play it safe. Don't change anything on your own, but please check with your oncology team or pharmacist before using coffee charcoal, and ask about keeping the two at least a couple of hours apart.

What Is Lomustine Used For?

Brand name: Ceenu

Lomustine capsules are used to treat primary and metastatic brain tumors, typically after surgery and/or radiation therapy. Both Gleostine and Lomustine branded capsules share these approved uses.

Lomustine capsules are also used as part of a combination chemotherapy regimen for Hodgkin's lymphoma (a cancer of the lymph system) in patients whose disease has continued to progress after initial chemotherapy.
