First, a quick safety note: European mandrake is genuinely toxic, and I would steer you away from it entirely. But here is the specific concern with Lorcaserin (Belviq). Mandrake's tropane alkaloids slow down how fast your gut moves things along. When your digestion slows, a pill like lorcaserin can sit in your system longer and be absorbed more completely, which could nudge its levels up.

In plain terms, that might mean stronger lorcaserin effects, things like headache, dizziness, tiredness, dry mouth, or nausea. To be honest, this is a theoretical interaction based on how these chemicals behave, not something well documented in real patients. Still, please don't use mandrake, and check with your pharmacist or doctor about anything you take alongside lorcaserin.

  • Lorcaserin is used to help adults who are obese or who are overweight and have weight-related medical problems to lose weight and keep from gaining back that weight. Lorcaserin must be used along with a reduced calorie diet and an exercise plan. Lorcaserin is in a class of medications called serotonin receptor agonists. It works by increasing feelings of fullness so that less food is eaten.
