Let me put your mind at ease a little here. Simethicone is one of the gentlest medicines we have. It simply breaks up gas bubbles in your stomach and gut so you can pass them more comfortably. It is not absorbed into your bloodstream and does not rely on any liver enzyme to work, so it does not really get caught up in drug interactions the way other medicines do.

The note on file is only a theory. European mandrake slows down how fast your gut moves, which could let some drugs sit longer and get absorbed more. For simethicone, that barely matters since its job is local. The much bigger issue is mandrake itself. It is genuinely toxic and can cause a racing heart, blurry vision, confusion, and worse. Please do not take it, and check with your pharmacist or doctor.

Simethicone relieves the uncomfortable pressure, bloating, and full or stuffed feeling that comes from trapped gas. Gas can build up after eating certain foods or from swallowing air.

Infant-specific products — including Mylicon Infants Gas Relief, Walgreens Infants Dye Free Gas Relief, and similar infant drops and suspensions — are used to relieve gas discomfort in babies frequently caused by air swallowing or certain formulas or foods.
