Cenobamate falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) INDUCERS — the group Evodia interacts with.

Theoretically, taking CYP3A4 inducers might decrease the levels and clinical effects of evodia.
Animal research shows that concomitant administration of dexamethasone, a known CYP3A4 inducer, with the alkaloid constituents of evodia significantly reduces the area under the curve (AUC), maximum concentration (Cmax), and half-life of these constituents.

Here's the thing to keep straight: in this case it's Cenobamate doing the affecting, not the other way around. Cenobamate is a mild inducer of the liver enzyme CYP3A4, the same enzyme that helps break down evodia's active compounds (like evodiamine and rutaecarpine). So if you take them together, your body may clear the evodia faster, which could leave less of it around to do whatever you were hoping it would do. In short, the supplement may simply work less well, not become dangerous.

I want to be honest about the evidence here: this is based on lab and animal studies, not people, so it's mostly theoretical. It does not suggest your seizure control or Cenobamate dosing is at risk. Still, before adding any herbal product to a seizure medicine, please run it by your pharmacist or neurologist first.
