Evodia has demonstrated dose-dependent activity as a proarrhythmic agent in animal and in vitro studies. Evodia infusion in animals extends the action duration potential and induces prolongation of the QT interval and Torsade de pointes.

Here's the gist: paliperidone (Invega Trinza) is one of those medicines that can gently stretch out the heart's electrical cycle, what we call the QT interval. Evodia, at least in test tube and animal studies, seems to do the same thing. Stack two QT-stretching things together and the concern is an additive effect, which in rare cases can lead to a dangerous abnormal heartbeat.

I want to be honest about the evidence here, though. This is theoretical and comes from lab and animal research, not from people, so I'm not trying to alarm you. With Invega Trinza being a long-acting shot you can't easily undo, it's worth a quick chat with your doctor or pharmacist before adding Evodia, especially if you have any heart rhythm history.

Paliperidone injection is used to treat schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder in adults. Different branded products are approved for specific treatment situations.

Invega Sustenna (once-monthly injection) treats both schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder. Invega Trinza (every-three-month injection) and Invega Hafyera (every-six-month injection) treat schizophrenia in adults who have already been stabilized on a paliperidone palmitate injectable. Erzofri extended-release is a once-monthly injectable for schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder in adults.
