ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
Why this applies to Oxprenolol
Oxprenolol falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Flaxseed Oil interacts with.
Some clinical evidence suggests that long-term consumption of flaxseed oil can modestly lower systolic and diastolic blood pressure, while other clinical research shows no effect.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Oxprenolol is a beta-blocker, and one of its jobs is to gently bring your blood pressure down. The thinking here is simple: flaxseed oil may modestly lower blood pressure on its own, so stacking it on top of oxprenolol could nudge your numbers a little lower than expected. If that happens, you might notice feeling lightheaded, dizzy when you stand up quickly, or more tired than usual.
I want to be honest that this is a theoretical concern based on how both work, and the blood pressure research on flaxseed oil is mixed. For most people it is mild, not dangerous. Still, if you start a flaxseed supplement, it is worth keeping an eye on your readings and checking in with your pharmacist or doctor before any changes.

- General wellness
Flaxseed oil is a plant-based source of the omega-3 fatty acid ALA, which the body can partly convert to the omega-3s found in fish oil.
