Flaxseed Oil + Timolol
Timolol brand names: Blocadren, Timol, Timoptic.
Flaxseed Oil has a moderate interaction with Timolol. Theoretically, combining flaxseed oil with other antihypertensive drugs might have additive effects and increase the risk of hypotension.

ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
Why this applies to Timolol
Timolol falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Flaxseed Oil interacts with.
Some clinical evidence suggests that long-term consumption of flaxseed oil can modestly lower systolic and diastolic blood pressure, while other clinical research shows no effect.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist with timolol and flaxseed oil. Timolol is a beta blocker that lowers your blood pressure and slows your heart rate. Flaxseed oil, taken regularly, may nudge blood pressure down a little on its own. So in theory, the two stacked together could lower your numbers a bit more than timolol alone.
If that happened, you might notice signs of blood pressure dipping too low, like feeling lightheaded, dizzy, or tired, especially when you stand up quickly. I want to be honest though: this is a theoretical concern based on how these work, and the blood pressure studies on flaxseed are mixed. For most people it's a mild thing. Just give your pharmacist or doctor a heads-up before starting it, and don't change your timolol on your own.

About Flaxseed Oil
What is Flaxseed Oil?
- Source of omega-3 (ALA) fatty acids
- Heart and cholesterol health
- Dry skin and inflammation
- Constipation
- General wellness
Flaxseed oil is a plant-based source of the omega-3 fatty acid ALA, which the body can partly convert to the omega-3s found in fish oil. It may help support heart health and provide healthy fats, but evidence for most specific health claims is limited or mixed. It is generally well tolerated, but talk to your pharmacist or doctor before starting, especially if you are pregnant or have a bleeding risk.
About Timolol
What Is Timolol Used For?
Brand names: Blocadren, Timol, Timoptic
Timolol is available in ophthalmic (eye) forms and as an oral tablet, and each form has its own approved uses. Ophthalmic formulations — including Betimol, Istalol, Timolol GFS, Timolol hemihydrate, Timolol Maleate eye drops, and Timolol Maleate Ophthalmic Gel Forming Solution — are used to lower elevated intraocular pressure (pressure inside the eye) in people with ocular hypertension or open-angle glaucoma.
Timolol Maleate tablets are used orally for three separate conditions: treating high blood pressure (alone or combined with other blood pressure medicines), reducing the risk of death and repeat heart attack in people who have survived a heart attack and are clinically stable, and preventing migraine headaches.

Timolol Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Timolol as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Flaxseed Oil — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
