Iloprost falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Garden Cress interacts with.

Theoretically, taking garden cress with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Garden cress has shown hypotensive effects in animal research and increases levels and effects of the antihypertensive medications amlodipine and losartan. This has not been shown in humans.

Here's the simple version: Iloprost (Ventavis) already works by relaxing and opening up your blood vessels to ease pressure in your lungs. Garden cress, at least in animal studies, seems to nudge blood pressure downward too. So in theory, pairing the two could add up and drop your blood pressure a little more than expected.

If that happened, you might feel some of Iloprost's usual effects more strongly, like dizziness, lightheadedness, flushing, headache, or feeling faint when you stand up. I want to be honest though, this is theoretical. It's based on lab and animal work with other blood pressure drugs, not on human studies, and food amounts of garden cress are unlikely to matter. Concentrated seed supplements deserve more caution. Please check with your doctor or pharmacist before adding them.

Theoretically, garden cress seed may increase the risk of bleeding if used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Animal research suggests that garden cress seed extract can increase bleeding time when used in combination with the antiplatelet agent clopidogrel. This has not been shown in humans and it is unclear if garden cress seed itself has anticoagulant or antiplatelet effects.

Here's something worth knowing about iloprost (Ventavis). Besides relaxing the blood vessels in your lungs, iloprost also makes your platelets less sticky, so it has a mild blood-thinning side to it. Garden cress seed, in animal studies, seemed to lengthen bleeding time when paired with a blood thinner. The thinking is that combining the two could nudge your bleeding risk a little higher, showing up as things like easier bruising, nosebleeds, or bleeding gums.

I'll be honest though: this is theoretical and based only on animal data, not people. Eating garden cress as a food in normal amounts is very unlikely to cause trouble. Concentrated seed supplements are the bigger question mark. Before starting one, check with your pharmacist or doctor.

Aurlumyn (iloprost injection, given intravenously) is approved to treat severe frostbite in adults, specifically to reduce the risk of losing fingers or toes (digit amputations). Its effectiveness was established in young, healthy adults who experienced frostbite at high altitudes.
