Nimodipine falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Garden Cress interacts with.

Theoretically, taking garden cress with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Garden cress has shown hypotensive effects in animal research and increases levels and effects of the antihypertensive medications amlodipine and losartan. This has not been shown in humans.

Here's the gist: nimodipine is a calcium channel blocker that relaxes blood vessels, and one of its main effects is lowering blood pressure. Garden cress, at least in animal studies, has shown its own blood-pressure-lowering action and has bumped up the effects of similar drugs like amlodipine. So in theory, pairing concentrated garden cress seed supplements with nimodipine could nudge your blood pressure a bit lower than expected.

If that happened, you might feel dizzy, lightheaded, unusually tired, or notice your heart racing. I'll be honest though, this is only seen in lab and animal work, not in people, so it's a theoretical concern. Everyday culinary amounts of cress are very unlikely to matter. Since nimodipine is used in a serious setting, please run any cress supplements past your doctor or pharmacist first.

What Is Nimodipine Used For?

Brand names: Nimotop, Nymalize

Nimodipine — available as capsules and oral solution — is used to improve neurological outcomes after a subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), a type of bleeding that occurs around the brain when an intracranial berry aneurysm ruptures. It works to reduce the incidence and severity of ischemic deficits (areas of the brain damaged by reduced blood flow) that can follow this kind of bleed.

This use applies across nimodipine capsules, nimodipine oral solution, and Nymalize oral solution. It is indicated for adult patients regardless of how severe their neurological condition is at the time treatment begins.
