Dr. Brian Staiger, PharmD, BCPS
Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Here's the short version: the concern with mixing gotu kola and Migralam is mostly about the liver. The acetaminophen part of this combo is processed by your liver, and in high doses or with heavy drinking it can stress that organ. Gotu kola has been linked in a handful of case reports to liver irritation too. Put them together and the worry is that any liver strain could add up.

I want to be honest about how shaky this evidence is. We're talking about only a few anecdotal cases, and nobody has proven gotu kola was truly the cause. This isn't a strong, well-documented interaction. Still, if you ever notice yellowing skin or eyes, dark urine, belly pain, or unusual tiredness, call your doctor. Check with your pharmacist before combining these.
