Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CNS DEPRESSANTS
Why this applies to Cenobamate
Cenobamate falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Gotu Kola interacts with.
In vitro research suggests that gotu kola may have sedative effects via binding of GABA receptors.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version. Cenobamate already calms down overactive electrical signals in your brain, and a common side effect is feeling sleepy, dizzy, or a little foggy. Gotu kola may have a mild calming effect of its own by acting on GABA, the brain's main 'slow down' system. Put the two together and you could feel more drowsy or unsteady than usual.
I want to be honest about the evidence though: this is theoretical, based on lab studies, not real-world reports. It may never cause you a problem. Still, since both can add to sleepiness, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, especially when you're driving or first starting out. Please don't change your cenobamate on your own.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Cenobamate page
“Anyone taking cenobamate (Xcopri) for seizures already knows the drug can cause drowsiness on its own, which is exactly why this list warrants genuine vigilance before adding a supplement. Of the 122 ingredients with an interaction on file, seven rate major, and the pattern is lopsided: 78 are sedating in their own right, from kava dow…”
