Here's the simple version: chlordiazepoxide (Librium) already calms down activity in your brain, and it does that partly by working on a calming chemical system called GABA. Lab studies hint that gotu kola may nudge those same GABA receptors. So in theory, putting the two together could add up and leave you more sedated than you expected.

What might that look like? Think extra drowsiness, grogginess, dizziness, or feeling a bit off balance, which could raise your risk of a fall. I want to be honest though, this is a theoretical concern based on test-tube research, not real patient reports, so it may not amount to much. Still, since both can be calming, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing them, and don't change anything on your own.

What Is Chlordiazepoxide Used For?

Brand name: Librium

Chlordiazepoxide hydrochloride capsules are used to manage anxiety disorders or for short-term relief of anxiety symptoms. They are also used to relieve withdrawal symptoms in acute alcoholism, and to reduce apprehension and anxiety before surgery.

Note that everyday stress and tension do not usually require an anxiety medication like this one. Long-term use beyond 4 months has not been well-studied, so your prescriber should periodically check whether it is still the right fit for you.
