Rezafungin falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Gotu Kola interacts with.

Theoretically, taking gotu kola with hepatotoxic drugs might have additive adverse effects.
There are at least four case reports of hepatotoxicity associated with the use of gotu kola. However, more information is needed to determine if gotu kola was the causative factor in these cases.

Here's the concern with pairing gotu kola and Rezafungin (Rezzayo). This isn't about one changing how the other is absorbed or activated. Instead, both can potentially be tough on the liver, so the worry is an additive strain when they're used together. Rezafungin, like other echinocandins, can occasionally bump up liver enzymes, and there are a handful of case reports where gotu kola was linked to liver problems too.

I want to be honest about the evidence here: it's weak and mostly theoretical. We simply don't know for sure that gotu kola caused those liver issues. Still, since Rezafungin is used for serious bloodstream fungal infections, this isn't the time to add anything uncertain. Please check with your doctor or pharmacist before combining them, and mention any yellowing skin, dark urine, or belly pain.

What Is Rezafungin Injection Used For?

Brand name: Rezzayo

Rezzayo (rezafungin injection) is used to treat candidemia (a Candida yeast infection in the bloodstream) and invasive candidiasis (a serious Candida infection that has spread into the body's tissues or organs). It is approved for adults and for adolescents 12 years of age and older who have limited or no other treatment options.

Important note: Rezzayo has not been studied in Candida infections of the heart (endocarditis), bones (osteomyelitis), or the brain and spinal cord (meningitis), so it is not used for those conditions.
