Here's the gist for Ingrezza (valbenazine). This medicine can already make some people feel drowsy or tired. Gotu kola, in early lab research, seems to nudge the same calming brain pathways (GABA receptors), so the worry is that pairing the two could pile on extra sleepiness.

I want to be upfront: this is a theoretical concern based on test-tube studies, not real reports of people running into trouble. The likely worst case is feeling more tired, sluggish, or off-balance than usual, which matters most if you drive or operate machinery. It's nothing dramatic, but worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding gotu kola, especially since you're managing tardive dyskinesia.

What Is Valbenazine Used For?

Brand name: Ingrezza

Valbenazine — sold as Ingrezza and INGREZZA Sprinkle — is approved for two conditions in adults. The first is tardive dyskinesia, a movement disorder that causes uncontrolled, repetitive facial or body movements, often brought on by long-term use of certain psychiatric medications. The second is chorea associated with Huntington's disease, which refers to the involuntary, dance-like jerking movements that are a hallmark of that condition.

Both Ingrezza and INGREZZA Sprinkle are approved for both of these uses.
