Qt Interval-Prolonging Drugs
Why this applies to Valbenazine Tosylate
Valbenazine Tosylate falls under Qt Interval-Prolonging Drugs — the group American Hellebore interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the concern with pairing these two. Valbenazine (Ingrezza) can stretch out the QT interval, which is the timing of your heart's electrical recharge. American hellebore can do the same thing on its own, plus it carries its own well-known danger of dropping your heart rate and blood pressure to risky levels. Stack these effects together and you raise the odds of a serious, sometimes life-threatening rhythm problem called torsades de pointes.
Honestly, American hellebore is a poisonous plant and isn't something I'd consider a safe supplement at all. The QT evidence here is fairly limited, but with a heart that's already under stress from valbenazine, this isn't a combo to gamble on. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before using anything containing it.

“The list for valbenazine (Ingrezza), the medicine for tardive dyskinesia, warrants genuine care, since 14 of its 216 supplement and herbal interactions are rated major. Most of those majors either pile extra sedation onto a drug that can already make people drowsy, alcohol being the everyday example, or shift how much valbenazine reach…”
