Vedolizumab falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Gotu Kola interacts with.

Theoretically, taking gotu kola with hepatotoxic drugs might have additive adverse effects.
There are at least four case reports of hepatotoxicity associated with the use of gotu kola. However, more information is needed to determine if gotu kola was the causative factor in these cases.

Here's the simple version. This isn't about gotu kola changing how vedolizumab (Entyvio) works, and vedolizumab isn't a prodrug that needs activating. The concern is purely about the liver. There are a few scattered case reports where gotu kola was linked to liver irritation, though we can't say for sure the herb was truly the cause.

Vedolizumab can occasionally bump up liver enzymes too. So the worry is that two things leaning on the liver at once might add up. This is mostly theoretical and based on weak, anecdotal evidence, so please don't panic. Still, if you take Entyvio, it's worth running gotu kola past your doctor or pharmacist first, and watch for signs like yellowing skin, dark urine, or unusual tiredness.

What Is Vedolizumab Injection Used For?

Brand name: Entyvio

Entyvio (vedolizumab) is used to treat adults with moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis and moderately to severely active Crohn's disease — two forms of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) that cause chronic inflammation in the digestive tract.

Both conditions are treated with Entyvio given as an intravenous (IV) infusion or, after initial IV doses, as a subcutaneous (under-the-skin) injection.
