Capmatinib Hydrochloride falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Higenamine interacts with.

Theoretically, higenamine might increase the levels and clinical effects drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro research shows that higenamine inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes by 21%. However, this effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the basic idea with Tabrecta (capmatinib) and higenamine. Your body clears capmatinib using a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. In lab dish testing, higenamine slowed that same enzyme down a little (about 21%). If that held true in people, capmatinib could build up a bit higher than expected, which might mean more of its usual side effects like nausea, swelling in your arms or legs, tiredness, or changes in liver blood tests.

I want to be honest, though: this is only a theoretical concern from test-tube work, and it has never actually been shown in humans. On top of that, higenamine itself can stir up your heart rate and blood pressure, which isn't ideal during cancer treatment. Since capmatinib is a serious medication, please run any supplement past your oncologist or pharmacist before starting it.

Tabrecta (capmatinib) is used to treat adults with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) — lung cancer that has spread — whose tumors carry a specific genetic change called a MET exon 14 skipping mutation. A patient must test positive for this mutation using an FDA-approved test before starting treatment.

This is a targeted therapy, meaning it works against tumors with this particular genetic driver rather than all lung cancers.
