Infigratinib falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Higenamine interacts with.

Theoretically, higenamine might increase the levels and clinical effects drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro research shows that higenamine inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes by 21%. However, this effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the short version: your bile duct cancer medicine, infigratinib (Truseltiq), is cleared from your body mainly by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. In a lab dish, higenamine slowed that same enzyme down by about 21 percent. If that held true in real people, infigratinib could build up a bit higher than expected, which might mean more of its side effects, like mouth sores, dry eyes or vision changes, high phosphate levels, diarrhea, or fatigue.

I'll be honest, though: this is only test-tube data and hasn't been shown in humans, so it's theoretical. Still, infigratinib is a serious cancer drug, and many pre-workout or weight-loss supplements with higenamine aren't worth the gamble. Please run it by your oncologist or pharmacist before mixing the two.

What Is Infigratinib Used For?

  • Infigratinib is used in adults who have received previous therapy to treat a certain type of cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer) that has spread to nearby tissues or other parts of the body and cannot be removed by surgery. Infigratinib is in a class of medications called kinase inhibitors. It works by blocking the action of the abnormal protein that signals cancer cells to multiply. This helps stop or slow the spread of cancer cells.
