Why this applies to Methamphetamine

Methamphetamine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Higenamine interacts with.

Theoretically, higenamine might increase the levels and clinical effects of drugs metabolized by CYP2D6.
In vitro research shows that higenamine inhibits CYP2D6 enzymes. However, this effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the basic idea with prescription methamphetamine (Desoxyn) and higenamine. Your body uses an enzyme called CYP2D6 to help clear methamphetamine. In lab studies, higenamine appears to slow that enzyme down. If that held true in people, methamphetamine could build up a bit and hit harder than expected, meaning a faster or pounding heartbeat, higher blood pressure, jitteriness, trouble sleeping, or anxiety.

On top of that, higenamine itself is a stimulant, so stacking two stimulants is the bigger concern here. That said, the enzyme effect has only been seen in a test tube, not in actual patients, so treat this as theoretical for now. Please loop in your doctor or pharmacist before combining them.

Theoretically, higenamine might increase the risk of cardiovascular toxicity when taken with stimulant drugs.
Higenamine has stimulant effects due to agonist activity at beta2-adrenoreceptors. In cardiac muscle, higenamine appears to have a positive inotropic effect and increase heart rate. However, it does not appear to increase blood pressure.

Here's the simple version: both higenamine and your methamphetamine (Desoxyn) are stimulants, and stacking two stimulants can pile on more pressure for your heart. Methamphetamine already revs things up by boosting natural chemicals like adrenaline in the body. Higenamine works on similar adrenaline-type receptors, so taking them together could mean a faster or more pounding heartbeat, jitteriness, chest discomfort, or feeling wired and anxious.

I want to be honest about the evidence here: this concern is theoretical, based on how these compounds work rather than solid studies in people. That said, anything that adds extra strain on the heart is worth taking seriously. Since higenamine doses on labels are often inaccurate, I'd avoid combining them and check with your doctor or pharmacist before adding any pre-workout or weight-loss product.
