Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Ombitasvir, Paritaprevir Ritonavir
Ombitasvir, Paritaprevir Ritonavir falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Higenamine interacts with.
In vitro research shows that higenamine inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes by 21%. However, this effect has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist for Technivie (ombitasvir, paritaprevir, and ritonavir): part of this combo relies on the liver enzyme CYP3A4, and lab studies suggest higenamine may slow that enzyme down a little (about a 21% drop in a test tube). In theory, that could let levels of these medicines drift up, which might mean more side effects like nausea, tiredness, itching, or trouble sleeping.
I want to be honest that this is theoretical only. It hasn't actually been seen in people, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. The bigger worry with higenamine is its own effect on your heart rate and blood pressure, plus the fact that these products are often poorly labeled. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing the two.

“Technivie (ombitasvir, paritaprevir, and ritonavir) treats hepatitis C, and because a cure depends on holding steady drug levels for the whole course, this list warrants genuine care. About Higenamine
What is Higenamine?
- Weight loss and fat burning
- Pre-workout energy and performance
- Appetite suppression
- Athletic stimulant
- Traditional medicine remedies
Higenamine is a plant-based stimulant compound added to many weight-loss and pre-workout supplements, but there is very little human evidence that it works and real concerns about heart and blood pressure effects. It is banned in sports by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), and product labels often list inaccurate amounts, so most people should approach it with caution and talk to a pharmacist or doctor first.
About Ombitasvir, Paritaprevir, and Ritonavir
What Is Ombitasvir, Paritaprevir, and Ritonavir Used For?
Brand name: Technivie
-
The combination of ombitasvir, paritaprevir, and ritonavir is usually used in combination with ribavirin (Copegus, Rebetol), but sometimes it is used alone to treat a certain type of chronic (long-term) hepatitis C infection (swelling of the liver caused by a virus). Ombitasvir is a hepatitis C virus (HCV) NS5A inhibitor. It works by stopping the virus that causes hepatitis C from spreading inside the body. Paritaprevir is a protease inhibitor. It works by decreasing the amount of HCV in the body. Ritonavir is a protease inhibitor. It helps to increase the amount of paritaprevir in the body so that the medication will have a greater effect. It is not known if ombitasvir, paritaprevir, or ritonavir prevent the spread of hepatitis C to other people.
