Norgestrel falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Horny Goat Weed interacts with.

Theoretically, horny goat weed might increase the effects and side effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro, horny goat weed extract inhibits CYP3A4 and suppresses CYP3A4 mRNA expression. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for your mini-pill. Norgestrel is an active hormone (not a prodrug), and your body clears it partly through a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. In lab dish studies, horny goat weed slowed that enzyme down. If that held true in people, your norgestrel could build up a bit, which might mean more progestin-type side effects like spotting, breast tenderness, mood changes, or headaches.

The honest caveat: this comes only from test-tube research and has never been confirmed in humans, so it stays theoretical. Still, because reliable birth control matters so much, I'd run any new supplement past your pharmacist or doctor before combining it with your pill.

What Is Progestin-Only (norethindrone) Oral Contraceptives Used For?

Norethindrone progestin-only pills — sometimes called the "mini-pill" — are used solely to prevent pregnancy. They do not contain estrogen, which makes them an option for women who cannot or prefer not to use estrogen-containing contraceptives.

When taken perfectly (same time every day, no missed pills), fewer than 1 in 100 women will become pregnant in the first year. With typical use, that number rises to about 9 in 100 — mostly because of late or skipped pills. Consistency is everything with this method.
