Temazepam falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Horny Goat Weed interacts with.

Theoretically, horny goat weed might increase the effects and side effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro, horny goat weed extract inhibits CYP3A4 and suppresses CYP3A4 mRNA expression. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for Restoril (temazepam). Your body uses a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to help clear this sleep medicine out. In lab studies (test tubes, not people), horny goat weed seems to slow that same enzyme down. If that happened in your body too, temazepam could hang around longer and feel stronger, meaning more next-morning grogginess, drowsiness, dizziness, or unsteadiness.

The honest part: this is only a theoretical concern based on lab data, and it hasn't actually been shown in humans. So I wouldn't panic. Still, since both can make you sleepy, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, especially if you're older or already feel hungover from your sleep med.

Temazepam capsules — sold as Restoril and under the generic name Temazepam — are indicated for the short-term treatment of insomnia, generally 7 to 10 days. They help people fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer.
