Abemaciclib falls under Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates — the group Humann Superbeets Heart Chews interacts with.

Each serving of HumanN SuperBeets includes 150mg of grape seed extract (2 chews). Laboratory studies suggest that grape seed extract might have inhibitory effects on the CYP3A4 metabolizing enzyme. If this enzyme is inhibited, drugs metabolized by it may undergo slower metabolism, potentially leading to (in many cases) higher-than-normal drug levels. Elevated drug levels can increase the risk of experiencing side effects. However, it's important to point out that there is no documented or reported instance of this specific interaction occurring in human studies.

Here's the gist for Verzenio (abemaciclib): your liver clears it using an enzyme called CYP3A4. The grape seed extract in these SuperBeets chews (about 150mg per two chews) has shown, in lab dish studies only, a slight ability to slow that same enzyme. In theory, slower clearance could let abemaciclib build up a bit, which might nudge up its usual side effects like diarrhea, nausea, low blood counts, fatigue, or belly pain.

That said, I want to keep this in perspective. This is a minor, unlikely concern, and it has never actually been documented in real people, just in test tubes. Still, abemaciclib is a serious cancer medicine, so please run any new supplement past your oncologist or pharmacist first before adding it.

What Is Abemaciclib Used For?

Brand name: Verzenio

Verzenio (abemaciclib) is used to treat HR-positive, HER2-negative breast cancer in adults. For early breast cancer at high risk of recurrence, Verzenio is taken alongside endocrine therapy (tamoxifen or an aromatase inhibitor) after surgery to help prevent the cancer from coming back.

For advanced or metastatic breast cancer (cancer that has spread), Verzenio can be used in combination with an aromatase inhibitor as a first hormonal treatment, in combination with fulvestrant after the cancer has progressed on endocrine therapy, or alone after prior endocrine therapy and chemotherapy have stopped working.
