Humann Superbeets Heart Chews and Acetaminophen, Hydrocodone

These two interact in 4 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.

Why Are There 4 Interactions?

Humann Superbeets Heart Chews interacts with whole categories of medication. Acetaminophen, Hydrocodone falls into 4 of those categories, so it can interact with Humann Superbeets Heart Chews in 4 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Minor).

Minor

Cytochrome P450 2D6 (Cyp2D6) Substrates

1 of 4

Why this applies to Acetaminophen, Hydrocodone

Acetaminophen, Hydrocodone falls under Cytochrome P450 2D6 (Cyp2D6) Substrates — the group Humann Superbeets Heart Chews interacts with.

Each serving of HumanN SuperBeets includes 150mg of grape seed extract (2 chews). Laboratory studies suggest that grape seed extract might have inhibitory effects on the CYP2D6 metabolizing enzyme. If this enzyme is inhibited, drugs metabolized by it may undergo slower metabolism, potentially leading to (in many cases) higher-than-normal drug levels. Elevated drug levels can increase the risk of experiencing side effects. However, it's crucial to highlight that, as of now, there is no documented or reported instance of this specific interaction occurring in human studies.

Here's the interesting wrinkle with this combo. Hydrocodone is actually a prodrug for part of its pain relief. Your body uses the CYP2D6 enzyme to turn some of it into hydromorphone, a stronger painkiller. The grape seed extract in SuperBeets chews might mildly block CYP2D6 in lab tests, so in theory you could make a little less of that active form and get slightly less pain control.

In real life, this is very unlikely to matter. The evidence is weak (just lab studies, never reported in people), the amount of grape seed extract is small, and hydrocodone still works through other pathways. I wouldn't lose sleep over it. If you notice your pain medicine seems less effective, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor rather than changing anything yourself.

Minor

Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates

2 of 4

Acetaminophen, Hydrocodone also falls under Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates.

Each serving of HumanN SuperBeets includes 150mg of grape seed extract (2 chews). Laboratory studies suggest that grape seed extract might have inhibitory effects on the CYP3A4 metabolizing enzyme. If this enzyme is inhibited, drugs metabolized by it may undergo slower metabolism, potentially leading to (in many cases) higher-than-normal drug levels. Elevated drug levels can increase the risk of experiencing side effects. However, it's important to point out that there is no documented or reported instance of this specific interaction occurring in human studies.

Here's the gist for your Norco or Vicodin (the acetaminophen and hydrocodone combo). The grape seed extract in these chews might gently slow down CYP3A4, one of the liver enzymes that helps break hydrocodone down. In theory, if that enzyme works a little slower, hydrocodone could hang around longer and feel a touch stronger, meaning more drowsiness, dizziness, constipation, or nausea.

That said, I want to keep this in perspective. This is based only on lab studies, not real people, and it's rated as a minor and unlikely interaction. For most folks, two chews a day won't cause a noticeable problem. Still, if you ever feel extra sleepy or foggy, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.

Cytochrome P450 2E1 (Cyp2E1) Substrates

Elevated drug levels can increase the risk of experiencing side effects. However, it's important to point out that there is no documented or reported instance of this specific interaction occurring in human studies.

Here's the gist for your Norco (acetaminophen and hydrocodone). The grape seed extract in SuperBeets chews may, in lab dishes, mildly block an enzyme called CYP2E1. That enzyme matters mostly for acetaminophen, because it helps create a toxic byproduct when acetaminophen is broken down. So in theory, slowing that pathway could actually shift how acetaminophen is processed, but this is test-tube science, not something seen in real people.

Practically, I wouldn't lose sleep over it. The evidence here is weak and no human cases have been reported. That said, keep your acetaminophen total under safe daily limits, and check in with your pharmacist or doctor before adding these chews, especially since hydrocodone causes drowsiness and constipation on its own.

Here's the gist for your Norco (acetaminophen with hydrocodone). The grape seed extract in SuperBeets Heart Chews might gently slow down an enzyme called CYP2E1. That enzyme matters for acetaminophen mainly because it helps form a small toxic byproduct, so in theory, slowing it could actually mean slightly less of that harmful breakdown product, not more. The hydrocodone side is handled by different enzymes, so the chews aren't likely to change your pain relief.

The honest truth is this is a minor, theoretical concern built on lab studies, with no real-world cases reported. I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Just keep your acetaminophen under the daily limit, go easy on alcohol, and check with your pharmacist if you have questions.

What These Ratings Mean

Every interaction above is graded three ways — here’s the key to each label.

Severity how clinically significant the interaction is
Major

Clinically significant. Avoid the combination, or use only under close professional supervision.
