Here's the gist for Rexulti (brexpiprazole). Your body relies partly on a liver enzyme called CYP2D6 to break this medication down. The grape seed extract in SuperBeets Heart Chews has shown, in lab dish studies only, some ability to slow that same enzyme. In theory, if CYP2D6 were slowed, brexpiprazole could clear a bit more slowly and build up slightly, which might nudge up side effects like drowsiness, restlessness, weight gain, or dizziness.

That said, I want to keep this in perspective. This is a theoretical, low-evidence concern, and there are no real-world reports of it actually happening in people. For most folks it's unlikely to be a problem. Still, since brexpiprazole is a long-term mental health medication, it's worth mentioning to your pharmacist or prescriber before adding the chews, so they can keep an eye on how you feel.

What Is Brexpiprazole Used For?

Brand name: Rexulti

Brexpiprazole tablets are approved for two uses in adults: as an add-on (adjunctive) treatment alongside antidepressants for major depressive disorder (MDD), and as a treatment for schizophrenia. These uses apply to both the generic brexpiprazole tablets and Rexulti.

Rexulti has one additional approved use: treating agitation associated with dementia due to Alzheimer's disease in adults. Rexulti is also approved for schizophrenia in adolescents ages 13 and older. Note that Rexulti is not approved for dementia-related psychosis without agitation from Alzheimer's disease, and it is not meant to be used on an as-needed basis for Alzheimer's-related agitation.
