Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
Cytochrome P450 2D6 (Cyp2D6) Substrates
Why this applies to Chlorpromazine
Chlorpromazine falls under Cytochrome P450 2D6 (Cyp2D6) Substrates — the group Humann Superbeets Heart Chews interacts with.
Interaction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans..
Here's the gist for chlorpromazine (Thorazine): the grape seed extract in these chews may, at least in lab dishes, gently slow down a liver enzyme called CYP2D6. Your body uses that enzyme to help clear chlorpromazine. If it's blocked even a little, levels of the drug could creep up. Chlorpromazine is not a prodrug, so more drug in your system would mean stronger effects, things like extra drowsiness, dizziness when you stand, dry mouth, or a lower blood pressure.
That said, this is only a theoretical concern from laboratory work, with no real cases reported in people, so it's rated minor and unlikely. Still, since chlorpromazine itself can lower blood pressure, and these chews are made to do the same, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.
