Moclobemide falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) INHIBITORS — the group Iboga interacts with.

Theoretically, taking iboga with CYP2D6 inhibitors might increase the levels and clinical effects of ibogaine.
Ibogaine, the active constituent of iboga, is a substrate of CYP2D6. One pharmacokinetic study shows that taking the CYP2D6 inhibitor paroxetine prior to taking ibogaine 20 mg increases the exposure to ibogaine and its metabolite noribogaine by 2-fold when compared with ibogaine alone.

Here's the key thing to understand: in this pairing, it's the Iboga that builds up, not your Moclobemide. Moclobemide is a moderate blocker of an enzyme called CYP2D6, and that same enzyme is what your body uses to break down ibogaine (Iboga's active compound). When the cleanup crew is slowed down, ibogaine and its byproduct can hang around at higher levels. In one study, a similar CYP2D6 blocker doubled ibogaine exposure.

That matters because Iboga can cause dangerous heart rhythm changes on its own, and more of it in your system raises that risk. On top of that, both Moclobemide and Iboga affect serotonin, which adds another layer of concern. Honestly, Iboga is illegal in the U.S. and genuinely unsafe outside research.
