Dulaglutide falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Ketogenic Diet interacts with.

Theoretically, following the ketogenic diet while using antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
The ketogenic diet involves a very low intake of carbohydrates, which can result in decreased blood glucose levels in patients taking antidiabetes drugs. In some patients, the need for antidiabetes drugs is reduced. Hypoglycemia has also occurred in some individuals without diabetes, although this is uncommon.

Here's the thing to keep in mind if you're on Trulicity (dulaglutide) and thinking about going keto. Cutting carbs way down lowers the amount of sugar coming into your body, and dulaglutide is already working to keep your blood sugar in check. Put those two together and your numbers can drop lower than expected, which means a real chance of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). Watch for shakiness, sweating, dizziness, confusion, or a racing heart.

This is mostly a theoretical, lower-quality concern, and dulaglutide on its own carries a fairly low solo risk of lows. But for some folks the dose may need adjusting. Please don't change anything on your own. Loop in your doctor or pharmacist first, and keep a glucose meter handy.

What Is Dulaglutide Injection Used For?

Brand name: Trulicity

Trulicity (dulaglutide) injection is used alongside diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults and children 10 years and older with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is not for type 1 diabetes.

Trulicity is also used in adults with type 2 diabetes who have established cardiovascular disease or multiple cardiovascular risk factors to lower the risk of major heart events — specifically cardiovascular death, non-fatal heart attack, or non-fatal stroke.
