Insulin Lispro falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Ketogenic Diet interacts with.

Theoretically, following the ketogenic diet while using antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
The ketogenic diet involves a very low intake of carbohydrates, which can result in decreased blood glucose levels in patients taking antidiabetes drugs. In some patients, the need for antidiabetes drugs is reduced. Hypoglycemia has also occurred in some individuals without diabetes, although this is uncommon.

Here's the simple version: Insulin lispro is a fast-acting mealtime insulin that lowers your blood sugar by helping it move into your cells. A ketogenic diet cuts carbs way down, which on its own already brings blood sugar lower. Stack those two together and your sugar can drop further than expected, raising the chance of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar).

For lispro specifically, that's a real concern because you dose it around carbs at meals. Eating far fewer carbs while taking your usual dose can lead to shakiness, sweating, confusion, or in serious cases passing out. The good news is many people simply need a lower insulin dose on this diet. Please don't change your insulin on your own. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist first so they can adjust your dose and tell you how to check your sugar more closely.

What Is Insulin Lispro Injection Used For?

Brand names: Admelog, Admelog Solostar

Insulin lispro injection is used to improve glycemic control (blood sugar management) in people with diabetes mellitus. It is a rapid-acting insulin analog approved for use in both type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

Admelog is specifically indicated to improve glycemic control in patients with diabetes mellitus. Humalog Mix75/25 is indicated to improve glycemic control in adults with diabetes mellitus; it is a fixed-ratio mixture of insulin lispro and insulin lispro protamine, and its fixed proportions do not allow for separate adjustment of basal (background) and prandial (mealtime) doses.
