Theoretically, concomitant use might result in increased photosensitivity. Khella constituents can cause photosensitivity. Some drugs that cause photosensitivity include amitriptyline (Elavil), quinolones (Ciprofloxacin, others), sulfa drugs (Septra, Bactrim, others), and tetracycline.

Here's the simple version: both khella and trovafloxacin can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight. Trovafloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, and that whole family is known for causing sun-related skin reactions. Khella contains compounds (like khellin) that can do the same thing. Stack them together and you may sunburn faster than usual, even on a cloudy day, with redness, stinging, or a rash on exposed skin.

I want to be honest about the strength of this, though. It's mostly theoretical and based on anecdotal reports, not solid studies, so it's a possible concern rather than a sure thing. If you do use both, be smart about sun protection, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Theoretically, khella might have additive adverse effects on the liver when used with hepatotoxic drugs. Khella can increase liver transaminases. Some drugs that can adversely affect the liver include acetaminophen (Tylenol), amiodarone (Cordarone), carbamazepine (Tegretol), isoniazid (INH), methotrexate (Rheumatrex), methyldopa (Aldomet), and many others.

Here's the concern with pairing khella and Trovafloxacin. Trovafloxacin is an antibiotic that's well known for being hard on the liver. In fact, that reputation is exactly why its use was heavily restricted. Khella, in concentrated supplement form, can also nudge liver enzymes (transaminases) upward. Put two liver stressors together and the worry is an additive strain on that organ.

I'll be straight with you: this combination is largely theoretical and based on limited evidence, not strong proof. Still, given Trovafloxacin's serious liver track record, I wouldn't take chances. Watch for things like yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, belly pain, or unusual tiredness, and please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining these.
