ANTIBIOTIC DRUGS
Why this applies to Oritavancin Diphosphate
Oritavancin Diphosphate falls under ANTIBIOTIC DRUGS — the group Lacticaseibacillus Paracasei interacts with.
L. paracasei preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. paracasei preparations by at least two hours.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the simple version: this one goes the other way from what people usually worry about. Oritavancin won't be hurt by your probiotic. It's the probiotic that may take the hit. Oritavancin (Orbactiv or Kimyrsa) is an antibiotic that kills bacteria, and a Lacticaseibacillus paracasei supplement is basically live, friendly bacteria. The antibiotic can't tell the difference, so it may wipe out a chunk of those probiotic organisms and leave you getting less benefit from them.
The good news is oritavancin is given as a single infusion at the clinic, and this concern is theoretical, based on how the drugs work rather than firm studies. If you want the probiotic to do its job, just take it a couple of hours apart from antibiotics. When in doubt, run the timing past your pharmacist or doctor.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Oritavancin Diphosphate page
“Oritavancin (Orbactiv, Kimyrsa) is a long-acting antibiotic given as a single IV infusion for serious skin infections, and because one dose stays in the body for days, supplement timing matters more than usual. Even so, none of the 48 ingredients on file rise past moderate, so for most people this list is about knowing what to watch ra…”
