Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTIBIOTIC DRUGS
Why this applies to Oritavancin Diphosphate
Oritavancin Diphosphate falls under ANTIBIOTIC DRUGS — the group Bacillus Subtilis interacts with.
Since B. subtilis preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. subtilis preparations by at least 2 hours.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the simple version: this interaction runs the other way from what people often worry about. Oritavancin won't be weakened by the probiotic. Instead, the antibiotic can knock out the live bacteria in your Bacillus subtilis supplement, so you may get less benefit from the probiotic itself. Oritavancin is given as a one-time infusion to treat skin infections, and it sticks around in your body for a good while.
The good news is this is theoretical, based on how antibiotics behave rather than hard studies. If you take a Bacillus subtilis product, just space it out from antibiotic doses. It's always smart to run your supplement list past your pharmacist or doctor first.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Oritavancin Diphosphate page
“Oritavancin (Orbactiv, Kimyrsa) is a long-acting antibiotic given as a single IV infusion for serious skin infections, and because one dose stays in the body for days, supplement timing matters more than usual. Even so, none of the 48 ingredients on file rise past moderate, so for most people this list is about knowing what to watch ra…”

About Bacillus Subtilis
What is Bacillus Subtilis?
- Digestive health and bloating
- Diarrhea support
- Immune support
- Gut microbiome balance
Bacillus subtilis is a spore-forming probiotic bacterium found in soil and some fermented foods, and it is used mainly to support gut health and digestion. Early research is promising for certain digestive and immune uses, but evidence is still limited and not strong enough to make firm claims. Talk to a pharmacist or doctor before using it, especially if you have a weak immune system.
About Oritavancin Injection
What Is Oritavancin Injection Used For?
Brand names: Orbactiv, Kimyrsa
Oritavancin is an antibiotic used for acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections (ABSSSI) in adults. These are infections caused by certain susceptible Gram-positive bacteria.
The Orbactiv label lists these bacteria: Staphylococcus aureus (including MRSA), several Streptococcus species, and Enterococcus faecalis (vancomycin-susceptible only). Like all antibiotics, it should be used only for infections that are proven or strongly suspected to be bacterial.
