ANTIBIOTIC DRUGS
Why this applies to Cephradine
Cephradine falls under ANTIBIOTIC DRUGS — the group Lactiplantibacillus Pentosus interacts with.
Lactiplantibacillus pentosus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. pentosus preparations by at least two hours.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the simple version: Cephradine is an antibiotic, and probiotics like Lactiplantibacillus pentosus are live bacteria. If you swallow them at the same time, the antibiotic doesn't know the difference between 'bad' germs and your friendly probiotic, so it may kill off a good chunk of those probiotic organisms. That means you mostly waste the probiotic, not that your Cephradine becomes dangerous.
Cephradine itself still works fine, so your infection treatment isn't the worry here. The fix is easy: just space them out. A good rule is to take your probiotic at least two hours apart from your Cephradine dose. This is a theory-based interaction, so it's low risk, but if you have questions, your pharmacist can help you set up a simple schedule.

“An antibiotic only works if it gets absorbed and your kidneys can handle it, and both of those are exactly what the riskiest supplements on this cephradine (Velosef) page threaten. Activated charcoal can grab cephradine in your gut and cut how much reaches your blood, while Siberian cocklebur and asarabacca can damage the kidneys that…”
