Latilactobacillus Sakei and Imipramine

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Imipramine and Latilactobacillus Sakei in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

How we checked

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Imipramine

Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Imipramine is filed under 15 classifications — including tricyclic antidepressants (tcas), antidepressant drugs, cytochrome p450 2c19 (cyp2c19) substrates. Latilactobacillus Sakei has documented interactions with 1 drug class — the most serious being antibiotic drugs (moderate) — and none of Imipramine’s classifications are among them.

Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.

What Latilactobacillus Sakei Itself Has Been Linked To

This is not an interaction — nothing below involves Imipramine. It is the side-effect record for Latilactobacillus Sakei on its own, from the licensed Natural Medicines monograph. If something new turns up after you add Latilactobacillus Sakei, this list is the first place to look. One entry is worth acting on rather than waiting out — marked below.

  • A higher chance of infection Worth acting on Additional detail

“Since Latilactobacillus sakei preparations contain live and active microorganisms, there is some concern that they might cause pathogenic infection in some patients. Some lactobacilli species have been isolated in cases of bacteremia, sepsis, splenic abscess, endocarditis, necrotizing fasciitis, pancreatic necrosis, and meningoencephalitis.”

Everything above comes from the Natural Medicines adverse-effect record for Latilactobacillus Sakei — expand a row for the licensed statement it rests on. We read the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of Imipramine’s FDA label too, and the two lists don’t meaningfully overlap — which is why no Imipramine column appears here.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Imipramine page

“Imipramine (Tofranil) is an older tricyclic antidepressant, and the supplements on this page deserve real scrutiny before you add one. Most of the list acts on the liver enzymes that process the drug, so an ingredient can quietly raise or lower imipramine levels: grapefruit pushes them up, while St.”

  • Gut and immune support
  • Skin health

Latilactobacillus sakei is a probiotic bacterium found in fermented foods like kimchi and certain meats, studied mostly for nasal sinus problems and eczema. An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Latilactobacillus Sakei is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Latilactobacillus Sakei record says about it on its own.

Latilactobacillus Sakei: dosing

There is no standard, well-established dose for Latilactobacillus sakei. Probiotic amounts are usually measured in CFUs (colony-forming units), and the right amount can vary by product, strain, and intended use.Because doses differ so much between products, the best advice is to follow the directions on the label of the specific product you buy. Do not assume more is better.A pharmacist can help you choose a reputable product and review whether it is appropriate for you.

About Imipramine

What Is Imipramine Used For?

Brand names: Tofranil, Tofranil PM

Imipramine is used to relieve symptoms of depression. Both Imipramine Hydrochloride tablets and Imipramine Pamoate capsules are approved for this use. Endogenous depression — the kind that seems to arise from within rather than a clear outside cause — tends to respond especially well. It may take one to three weeks before you notice the full benefit.

Imipramine Hydrochloride tablets are also approved as a short-term, add-on treatment to help reduce nighttime bedwetting (nocturnal enuresis) in children aged 6 and older, after a doctor has ruled out physical causes.
