Here's the simple version. Your Capozide combo (captopril plus a water pill) already works to lower your blood pressure. Nattokinase, the enzyme from fermented soybeans, has shown in a few small studies that it may nudge blood pressure down a little on its own. Put them together and, in theory, those two pushes could add up, leaving your pressure lower than you'd like.

If that happens, you might feel dizzy, lightheaded, tired, or wobbly when you stand up quickly, especially since the diuretic part can already affect your fluids. To be clear, this is a theoretical concern based on how these things work, not strong proof. Still, please loop in your pharmacist or doctor before adding nattokinase, and keep an eye on your readings at home.

What Is Captopril and Hydrochlorothiazide Used For?

Brand names: Capozide, Acezide

Captopril and hydrochlorothiazide tablets are used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). The two ingredients work together to lower blood pressure more effectively than either one alone.

This combination may be started as initial therapy or substituted when a patient has already been adjusted on both ingredients separately. It is approved for patients with normal kidney function, and is used more cautiously in those with impaired kidney function.
