Deserpidine, Hydrochlorothiazide falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Phellodendron interacts with.

Theoretically, phellodendron might have additive effects with antihypertensive drugs.
Phellodendron contains berberine. Animal research suggests that berberine can have hypotensive effects. Also, a clinical study suggests that taking berberine in combination with amlodipine can lower systolic and diastolic blood pressure when compared with amlodipine alone. Theoretically, phellodendron might also reduce blood pressure.

Your medication is a combo product: deserpidine (which calms the nervous signals that raise blood pressure) plus hydrochlorothiazide (a water pill that helps your body shed extra salt and fluid). Both already work to bring your blood pressure down. Phellodendron contains berberine, which in animal studies and one small human trial seemed to nudge blood pressure lower on its own.

So the concern here is simple addition: stacking phellodendron on top of your pills could push your pressure too low. That might leave you feeling dizzy, lightheaded, tired, or faint when you stand up. Keep in mind this is a theoretical interaction based mostly on lab and animal data, not proven in people on your exact medicine. Still, check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding it.
