Here's the gist with Poria mushroom and dexchlorpheniramine (Polaramine). Dexchlorpheniramine is an antihistamine that also has mild anticholinergic activity, meaning part of how it works is by quieting the chemical messenger acetylcholine. In animal studies, Poria seems to do the opposite and raise acetylcholine levels a bit. In theory, that could nudge against your medicine and make it work a little less well, so symptoms like sneezing, runny nose, or itchy eyes might not be controlled quite as smoothly.

I want to be honest though: this is theoretical and based only on animal research. It hasn't been shown in real people, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Chlorpheniramine is used to temporarily relieve common allergy symptoms caused by hay fever (allergic rhinitis) or other upper respiratory allergies. These include runny nose, sneezing, itchy or watery eyes, and itching of the nose or throat.

These uses are supported across multiple products — including tablets (such as Aller-chlor, Allergy, Allergy Relief, Allergy Time, Anti Allergy, and Chlorpheniramine Maleate), extended-release tablets (Allergy Relief and Chlorphen-12), the oral solution Ed Chlorped Jr, and the inhalers ClorRelief and ClorRelief KIDs.
