CNS DEPRESSANTS
Why this applies to Ibuprofen, Oxycodone
Ibuprofen, Oxycodone falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Poria Mushroom interacts with.
Animal research shows that poria mushroom extract has sedative properties. This interaction has not been shown in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Combunox combines ibuprofen with oxycodone, and it's the oxycodone half that matters here. Oxycodone is an opioid that can make you drowsy, slow your breathing, and cloud your thinking. The concern with Poria mushroom is that, at least in animal studies, it seems to have its own mild calming or sedating effect. So in theory, pairing the two could add up and leave you sleepier or more sluggish than expected.
I want to be honest about how soft this evidence is. This has only been seen in animals, never proven in people, and it's based on pharmacology, not real cases. Still, since oxycodone already affects alertness, it's worth mentioning it to your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, and watch for extra drowsiness if you do.

Poria mushroom (Fu Ling) is a fungus long used in Traditional Chinese Medicine, mainly as a mild diuretic and digestive and calming aid. Modern scientific evidence in humans is very limited, so its benefits are not well proven. It is generally considered well tolerated, but talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using it, and avoid it in pregnancy and breastfeeding due to a lack of safety data.
