These two interact in 5 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 5 Interactions?
Quercetin interacts with whole categories of medication. Amlodipine, Celecoxib falls into 5 of those categories, so it can interact with Quercetin in 5 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
1 of 5Why this applies to Amlodipine, Celecoxib
Amlodipine, Celecoxib falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Quercetin interacts with.
Quercetin can modestly decrease blood pressure in people with mild hypertension. Theoretically, it might have additive blood pressure lowering effects when used with antihypertensive drugs.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Consensi combines amlodipine, a blood pressure medicine, with celecoxib, an anti-inflammatory. The piece that matters here is the amlodipine. Quercetin has been shown in some studies to gently lower blood pressure on its own, so stacking it with a medication that already does that job could push your numbers down a little more than expected.
If your pressure dips too low, you might feel lightheaded, dizzy, tired, or notice your heart racing, especially when you stand up quickly. Honestly, this is mostly a concern with concentrated quercetin supplements, not the small amounts found in foods like apples or onions. The evidence here is fairly modest, so don't panic, but do check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding a supplement, and keep an eye on your readings at home.

ORGANIC ANION TRANSPORTER 3 (OAT3) SUBSTRATES
2 of 5Amlodipine, Celecoxib also falls under ORGANIC ANION TRANSPORTER 3 (OAT3) SUBSTRATES.
In vitro research shows that quercetin is a strong non-competitive inhibitor of OAT3, with half-maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) values as low as 0.75 mcM. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the situation with Consensi, which combines amlodipine (for blood pressure) and celecoxib (an anti-inflammatory for pain). In lab dish studies, quercetin blocks a kidney transporter called OAT3 that helps clear certain drugs from your body. The theory is that if that transporter is slowed, a little more of the medication could stick around, which might nudge up its effects and side effects.
For this combo, that could in theory mean things like extra swelling in the ankles, dizziness, or low blood pressure from the amlodipine, or stomach upset and fluid retention from the celecoxib. But honestly, this is only seen in test tubes so far, never in real people, and food amounts of quercetin are very unlikely to matter. If you want to take high-dose quercetin supplements, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

ORGANIC ANION TRANSPORTER 1 (OAT1) SUBSTRATES
3 of 5Amlodipine, Celecoxib also falls under ORGANIC ANION TRANSPORTER 1 (OAT1) SUBSTRATES.
In vitro research shows that quercetin is a strong non-competitive inhibitor of OAT1, with half-maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) values less than 10 mcM. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Consensi combines amlodipine (a blood pressure medicine) with celecoxib (an anti-inflammatory). The concern here is mostly theoretical. In test tube studies, quercetin blocks a kidney transporter called OAT1 that helps clear certain drugs from your body. If that transporter slows down, a drug it normally moves could build up a bit and you might feel its effects more strongly.
In practice, this hasn't actually been reported in people, and neither amlodipine nor celecoxib relies heavily on OAT1, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, if you take high-dose quercetin supplements, keep an eye out for things like extra swelling in your ankles, dizziness, or stomach upset. Food amounts of quercetin are very unlikely to matter. Check with your pharmacist before adding a concentrated supplement.

CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES
4 of 5Amlodipine, Celecoxib also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES.
A small clinical study in healthy volunteers shows that taking quercetin 500 mg twice daily for 10 days prior to taking diclofenac, a CYP2C9 substrate, increases diclofenac plasma levels by 75% and prolongs the half-life by 32.5%. Animal research also shows that pretreatment with quercetin increases plasma levels and prolongs the half-life of losartan (Cozaar), a substrate of CYP2C9. Furthermore, laboratory research shows that quercetin inhibits CYP2C9.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
This combination product pairs amlodipine (for blood pressure) with celecoxib (an anti-inflammatory pain reliever). The piece that matters here is celecoxib, since your liver clears it using an enzyme called CYP2C9. Quercetin appears to slow that enzyme down, so celecoxib could build up a bit more than usual.
In practice, higher celecoxib levels can mean a greater chance of its usual side effects, like stomach upset, heartburn, fluid retention, or kidney strain, and possibly higher blood pressure. Keep in mind this is mostly theoretical, based on a small study with a similar drug. Food amounts of quercetin are unlikely to matter, but concentrated supplements might. Before adding a high-dose quercetin product, check with your pharmacist or doctor.

CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
5 of 5Amlodipine, Celecoxib also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES.
A small clinical study in healthy volunteers shows that pretreatment with quercetin increases plasma levels and prolongs the half-life of a single dose of cyclosporine (Neoral, Sandimmune), a substrate of CYP3A4. Animal research also shows that pretreatment with quercetin increases plasma levels and prolongs the half-life of losartan (Cozaar) and quetiapine (Seroquel), substrates of CYP3A4. Other laboratory research also shows that quercetin inhibits CYP3A4. However, one clinical study shows that quercetin can increase the metabolism of midazolam, a substrate of CYP3A4, and decrease serum concentrations of midazolam by about 24% in some healthy individuals, suggesting possible induction of CYP3A4.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Consensi combines amlodipine (a blood pressure medicine) and celecoxib (an anti-inflammatory pain reliever). Both are partly handled by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4, and quercetin can nudge that enzyme. Neither drug is a prodrug, so they work as-is, not after activation.
The catch is that the evidence here is mixed and mostly from lab and animal studies. Quercetin seems to block CYP3A4 in most tests, which could let these drugs build up a little (think more swollen ankles or dizziness from amlodipine, or stomach upset from celecoxib). One human study showed the opposite. Food amounts of quercetin are unlikely to matter. If you take a high-dose supplement, just check with your pharmacist or doctor first.
