Quercetin + Finafloxacin
Finafloxacin brand name: Xtoro.
Quercetin has a moderate interaction with Finafloxacin. Theoretically, concomitant use might inhibit the effects of quinolone antibiotics.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
QUINOLONE ANTIBIOTICS
Why this applies to Finafloxacin
Finafloxacin falls under QUINOLONE ANTIBIOTICS — the group Quercetin interacts with.
In vitro, quercetin binds to the DNA gyrase site on bacteria, which may interfere with the activity of quinolone antibiotics.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist for Xtoro (finafloxacin), which is a quinolone antibiotic used as ear drops for swimmer's ear and certain ear infections. The concern with quercetin is the opposite of most interactions: instead of building the drug up, it could potentially weaken how well the antibiotic works. In lab (test tube) studies, quercetin attaches to the same bacterial target, DNA gyrase, that quinolones rely on to kill bacteria, so the two may compete.
I'll be honest, this is mostly theoretical and based on lab data, not solid human studies. Since finafloxacin is applied right into the ear, a swallowed quercetin supplement is even less likely to matter much. Still, if you're treating an active infection, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding high-dose quercetin.

Every interaction above is graded three ways — here’s the key to each label.
Clinically significant. Avoid the combination, or use only under close professional supervision.
Usually worth avoiding or managing — may need monitoring, a dose change, or timing apart.
Generally not serious. Be aware of it and mention it to your pharmacist.
- LikelyWell-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
- ProbableInteraction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports.
- PossibleInteraction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
- UnlikelyInteraction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Finafloxacin page
“The clearest snag on the supplement list for finafloxacin (Xtoro), a quinolone antibiotic ear drop for outer ear infections, is minerals. Calcium and iron can bind quinolone drugs in the gut and cut how much gets absorbed, so those doses belong hours apart.”

About Quercetin
What is Quercetin?
- Seasonal allergies
- Antioxidant support
- Heart and blood pressure health
- Anti-inflammatory support
- Immune support
- Exercise recovery
Quercetin is a plant flavonoid with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties found in many common foods and sold as a supplement. While early research is interesting for allergies, blood pressure, and inflammation, strong human evidence is limited for most uses. It is generally well tolerated in food amounts, but talk to your pharmacist or doctor before taking high-dose supplements.
