Quercetin + Nebivolol Hydrochloride, Valsartan
Nebivolol Hydrochloride, Valsartan brand name: Byvalson.
Nebivolol Hydrochloride, Valsartan falls into 3 drug categories that Quercetin can interact with; the most serious is rated moderate. Theoretically, taking quercetin with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.

These two interact in 3 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 3 Interactions?
Quercetin interacts with whole categories of medication. Nebivolol Hydrochloride, Valsartan falls into 3 of those categories, so it can interact with Quercetin in 3 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
1 of 3Why this applies to Nebivolol Hydrochloride, Valsartan
Nebivolol Hydrochloride, Valsartan falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Quercetin interacts with.
Quercetin can modestly decrease blood pressure in people with mild hypertension. Theoretically, it might have additive blood pressure lowering effects when used with antihypertensive drugs.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Byvalson combines two blood pressure medicines: nebivolol (a beta-blocker) and valsartan (an ARB). Both are designed to lower your blood pressure. Quercetin, in concentrated supplement doses, may also nudge blood pressure down a little on its own. So the real concern here is simple addition: two things pushing the same direction at once.
If your numbers drop too far, you might feel dizzy, lightheaded, tired, or even faint, especially when standing up quickly. Keep in mind this is mostly theoretical and the supporting evidence is modest. The small amounts of quercetin you get from foods like apples and onions are very unlikely to matter. Before starting a high-dose supplement, check with your pharmacist or doctor and consider monitoring your blood pressure at home.

CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES
2 of 3Nebivolol Hydrochloride, Valsartan also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES.
In vitro research show that quercetin inhibits CYP2D6. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Byvalson combines two blood pressure medicines, and the one to focus on here is nebivolol, a beta-blocker that your liver clears partly through an enzyme called CYP2D6. In lab tests, quercetin can slow that enzyme down. If that happened in your body, nebivolol levels could creep up, which might lead to a slower heart rate, lower blood pressure, dizziness, or feeling unusually tired. The valsartan part isn't affected by this particular pathway.
Here's the reassuring part: this has only been seen in test-tube studies, not in real people, and everyday food amounts of quercetin are very unlikely to matter. Concentrated supplements are the bigger question mark. If you want to take quercetin pills, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first and keep an eye on your blood pressure and pulse.

CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES
3 of 3Nebivolol Hydrochloride, Valsartan also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES.
A small clinical study in healthy volunteers shows that taking quercetin 500 mg twice daily for 10 days prior to taking diclofenac, a CYP2C9 substrate, increases diclofenac plasma levels by 75% and prolongs the half-life by 32.5%. Animal research also shows that pretreatment with quercetin increases plasma levels and prolongs the half-life of losartan (Cozaar), a substrate of CYP2C9. Furthermore, laboratory research shows that quercetin inhibits CYP2C9.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version. Byvalson combines two blood pressure medicines, and the valsartan part is handled in part by a liver enzyme called CYP2C9. Quercetin can slow that enzyme down. In theory, that means a bit more valsartan could linger in your body, which might nudge its blood pressure lowering effect a little stronger. You could notice things like dizziness, lightheadedness when standing up, or feeling more tired than usual.
To be honest, the evidence here is on the soft side and mostly based on lab work and studies with similar drugs, not Byvalson itself. Quercetin from foods like apples and onions is very unlikely to matter. Concentrated high-dose supplements are the real question, so check with your pharmacist or doctor before starting them.

About Quercetin
What is Quercetin?
- Seasonal allergies
- Antioxidant support
- Heart and blood pressure health
- Anti-inflammatory support
- Immune support
- Exercise recovery
Quercetin is a plant flavonoid with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties found in many common foods and sold as a supplement. While early research is interesting for allergies, blood pressure, and inflammation, strong human evidence is limited for most uses. It is generally well tolerated in food amounts, but talk to your pharmacist or doctor before taking high-dose supplements.
