ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
Why this applies to Quinethazone, Reserpine
Quinethazone, Reserpine falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Quercetin interacts with.
Quercetin can modestly decrease blood pressure in people with mild hypertension. Theoretically, it might have additive blood pressure lowering effects when used with antihypertensive drugs.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Hydromox R combines two blood pressure medicines: quinethazone (a water pill) and reserpine. Both work to bring your blood pressure down. Here's the thing to know about quercetin: in supplement form, it can also nudge blood pressure down a little on its own. So when you stack it on top of medicines that are already lowering your numbers, the effects can add up.
If your pressure dips too low, you might feel dizzy, lightheaded, tired, or faint, especially when you stand up quickly. I'll be honest, this is mostly a theoretical concern and the human evidence is on the weaker side. Food amounts of quercetin (apples, onions, tea) are very unlikely to matter. Before starting a concentrated supplement, just check with your pharmacist or doctor.
